2 AA Rosette Fine Dining in elegant, candlelit surroundings

A delicious, seasonal 2AA Rosette Dinner is served Tuesday to Saturday inclusive (and Sundays on Bank Holiday Weekends) in our elegant Georgian-panelled, candlelit Dining Room which seats a maximum of just 16 guests and looks out onto the south lawn and gardens; dinner service starts at 7.00pm with last orders around 8.30pm. All the dishes are prepared here in our kitchen by our talented Chef and are freshly cooked to order.

The Dining Room is open to both resident and non-resident guests and we do recommend making your dinner reservations when booking your accommodation to secure a table at the time of your choice. We are sorry but we cannot guarantee availability of a table, nor a particular time, where dinner reservations have not been made at time of booking.

Our Wine List has an excellent selection of quality wines featuring mainly smaller wineries whose emphasis is on quality over quantity. If you are celebrating a special occasion, we have a choice of Champagne and Sparkling wine to suit most budgets and we will ensure it is in your room, chilled and ready for your arrival.

Whilst we don’t have a Bar, we are fully licensed and you can relax over pre-dinner drinks and coffee / liqueurs in our comfortable Drawing Room with its warming woodburner in winter. We stock a varied selection of spirits, minerals etc as well as beer / lager and wines by the glass. We often feature a bottled ‘Guest Ale’ from Woodfordes, an award-winning local Norfolk brewery, renowned for their real ales.

The Dining Room is closed on Sunday and Monday (and occasional Tuesday) evenings, excepting Easter and Bank Holiday weekends, when it is open on the Sunday evening of the holiday weekend.

We don’t serve lunch at The Old Rectory however there is a welcoming riverside ‘Chef & Brewer’ pub, The Rushcutters, just a few minutes walk from the hotel which offers a range of hot and cold sandwiches, light bites and main dishes throughout the day, as  well as a friendly Café just opposite Thorpe River Green which also serves light snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice creams. A little further along, the Buck Inn also serves food throughout the day.

Start your day with our freshly cooked English Breakfast with bacon, sausages and ham from Barnard’s of Shropham, free-range Norfolk eggs, thick yoghurt with our own fruit compôte or home-made toasted muesli and local honey, as well as a choice of cereals, fresh fruits, artisan toast with Norfolk preserves, and Fair-trade tea and coffee. On warm summer mornings, you can enjoy your breakfast under the gazebo overlooking the swimming pool. Our friendly staff will take your breakfast order  and bring the dishes you have selected to your table just as soon as they are ready.

Special Dietary Requirements / Food Allergies

Our menu features both vegetarian and fish choices and we can offer alternatives to cater for food allergies or particular dietary needs; kindly let us know prior to your arrival if you have any such requirements.
