2 AA Rosette Dining in our elegant, candlelit restaurant
Our daily changing, seasonal, 2AA Rosette Dinner menu is served Monday to Saturday in our intimate, elegant Georgian-panelled, candlelit Dining Room which seats a maximum of just 16 guests; dinner service starts at 7.00pm with last orders around 8.30pm. All the dishes are prepared here in our kitchen by our talented Chef and are freshly cooked to order.
We do recommend you make dinner reservations when booking your accommodation to secure a table at the time of your choice; we regret we cannot guarantee availability of a table, nor a particular time, where dinner reservations have not been made at time of booking.
The Dining Room is closed on Sundays, excepting Easter and Bank Holiday weekends, when it is open on the Sunday evening but is then closed on Bank Holiday Monday.
We don’t serve lunch at The Old Rectory however there is a welcoming riverside ‘Chef & Brewer’ pub, The Rushcutters, just a few minutes walk from the hotel which offers a range of hot and cold sandwiches, light bites and main dishes throughout the day, as well as a friendly Cafe just opposite Thorpe River Green which also serves light snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice creams.
All our produce is sourced from local suppliers and we have a selection of herbs growing in our garden. Chef bakes fresh bread daily. He can prepare tempting vegetarian dishes and will offer alternative choices to cater for food allergies or particular dietary needs; please let us know prior to your arrival if you have any such requirements.
Our wine list has an excellent selection of quality wines featuring mainly smaller wineries whose emphasis is on quality over quantity. If you are celebrating a special occasion, we have a choice of Champagne and Sparkling wine to suit most budgets and we will ensure it is in your room, chilled and ready for your arrival.
A light Room Service menu is also available, or we will happily serve dishes from our dinner menu in your room if you prefer.
Each morning you can enjoy a tasty English breakfast with bacon, sausages and ham from Barnard’s of Shropham, free-range Norfolk eggs, thick yoghurt with our own fruit compôte or toasted muesli and local honey, as well as a choice of cereals, fresh fruits, artisan toast with Norfolk preserves, and Fair-trade tea and coffee. On warm summer mornings, you can enjoy breakfast under the gazebo overlooking the swimming pool.
Afternoon tea is available to residents daily; home-baked scones and freshly brewed tea or coffee are served in our Drawing Room by the log fire in winter or in the Conservatory or on the pool terrace in summer.
