2 AA Rosette Candlelit Fine Dining

Dining at The Old Rectory is a most enjoyable and memorable occasion. We serve a delicious, seasonal 2AA Rosette Dinner  Tuesday to Saturday inclusive (and Sundays on Bank Holiday Weekends); service starts at 7.00pm with last orders around 8.30pm. Our talented Chef prepares all the dishes  here in our kitchen and cooks each one freshly to order.

Our Dining Room seats a maximum of just 16 guests and is open to both resident and non-resident diners; we recommend making dinner reservations when booking accommodation to secure a table at the time of your choice. We’re sorry but we cannot guarantee availability of a table, nor a particular time, if you have not made dinner reservations at time of booking.

Our Wine List features a carefully chosen selection of wines from mainly smaller wineries whose emphasis is on quality over quantity. Celebrating a special occasion? We have Champagne and Sparkling wine to suit most budgets and we’ll make sure it’s in your room, chilled and ready for your arrival.

Whilst we don’t have a Bar, we are fully licensed and you can enjoy pre-dinner drinks and coffee / liqueurs in our elegant Drawing Room; with its plush sofas, comfortable armchairs and the warming glow from our woodburner in winter, it’s the perfect place to relax. We stock a varied selection of spirits and minerals, bottled beer from Woodfordes award-winning local brewery and wines by the glass.

The Dining Room is closed on Sunday and Monday evenings, excepting Easter and Bank Holiday weekends, when we are open on the Sunday evening of the holiday weekend.

We don’t serve lunch however there are three welcoming pubs just a short walk away. Both serve a range of hot and cold sandwiches, light bites and main dishes. There’s also a friendly café just opposite Thorpe River Green serving snacks, hot and cold drinks and ice creams.

Start your day with our freshly cooked English Breakfast. Our bacon, sausages and ham come from Barnard’s of Shropham and free-range eggs from the happy hens at Wayland Eggs. Thick yoghurt with our own fruit compôte or home-made toasted muesli and local honey is a popular choice; we also offer a range of breakfast cereals, fresh fruit and thick cut toast with Norfolk preserves. Our tea and coffee is all Fair-trade.

On warm summer mornings, you can enjoy breakfast outside under the gazebo overlooking the swimming pool or on the terrace. Our friendly staff will take your order and bring your choices to your table just as soon as they are ready.

Special Dietary Requirements

Our daily menu features a meat/game,  a fish and a vegetarian main course; we are happy to provide a gluten / lactose free option (with prior notice) which may be any one of these. Not all the choices on the menu will be suitable for special dietary needs. Please let us know prior to your arrival if you have particular dietary requirements and we will do our best to offer a suitable alternative. Our menu may include ingredients which contain gluten, nuts and other allergens and whilst every care is taken we cannot guarantee dishes will be free from traces of these.
